Completed an energy audit and air duct sealing. Retested. Air exchangess went from a 19 on his meter to a 13 - so improvement was made. To check on air leak between 2nd and 3rd floor where duct work was located required breaking drywall, too expensive to go this route. Said they re-sealed duct work in crawl space and foamed pipes and electrical entrances into unit....no way for me to double check this. I went around and used tape to seal windows leaking air, and found a few other spots leaking air and used tape myself to seal drafts. Another major air leak was fire place, and someone needed to check the supposedly sealed chimney to see if air was coming in from that source. Wood fireplace was swapped for an electric fire place and cold air comes in from fan area of fireplace. Unable to do this. Unable to locate where cold air was coming in from new shower stall on first floor. Used tape to seal pocket door opening to keep cold air out. |
