Although this major defect rests largely on the shoulders the contractors who actually performed the work, it ultimately also rests on the shoulders of TerraLogos. The insulators, for example, promised to complete their work in one day. Their unsupervised and unfinished work was done so poorly that the contractor had to return later several times in order simply to correct the initial unprofessional sloppiness. Subsequently, they also had to complete the work with another crew altogether. I would have preferred TerraLogos to have hired another contractor to complete the work and was disappointed when this request was ignored. I was told initially by TerraLogos that some aspects of the total work would qualify for partial reimbursement from BGE and other aspects from MD state. Near the conclusion of the work, I was informed by TerraL Contractor comments: Thank you for your feedback Donald. We rely on your input to improve our process, and continue to refine our process so that even when we hit bumps our projects run in the right direction. Your 4 projects were complicated, and, for many reasons, took over a year to complete, even though they all were relatively small. To address your concerns out of order, your initial contract from the fall of 2010 was for $8,000, and this is the one for which we had estimates that included rebates from BGE. In |

My house is drafty and cold in winter and now with the cold weather setting in, there appears to be almost no change in the comfort level. I also am noticing almost no effect on energy use -- electricity is same as last year, although gas season has not been billed yet. I wish I knew what went wrong. I rejected an air exchanger because of the cost -- can't believe that this would have made the difference. I was waiting to see what the winter brought before contacting them so I'm not sure if they understand why. But comfort and savings are not materializing. Terralogos performed a full home audit including blower door test. Based upon the inspection, we developed a plan of action and primarily focused on issues that addressed energy savings and comfort. The work had to be done in well coordinated manner with another contractor that was installing a geothermal system at the home. The insulation made an immediate difference in both home energy bills and comfort. While there was a little glitch in the attic insulation installation, the contractor quickly remedied the situation.
